8 months

Little man Jacob is now 8 months! I'm a little behind on updating this blog. I've been staying at my mom and dads and haven't really found the time to update it. Every free time I get, I would much rather be lazy and spend my time online. I've been researching tons and tons of pictures for ideas for the house. I'm dying to start a project, but I just can't figure out what to do! I think my first project is going to be my master bedroom. I've found some rooms that have given me some inspiration, but nothing that I absolutely love. I will post them soon...

Jacob is now crawling everywhere! He can't sit still for anything! He barely wants to sit long enough to take his bottle. I can't believe how active he is now. I can put him down on the floor, and he dashes off to find something to get into. I bought a "baby cage" as I call it. It's a big gate that can close into a sectioned area. It keeps him from going everywhere! He doesn't seem to mind it, but as soon as I open it, he's off!! He's tried to escape a few times by going under a table that is between two chairs. For only 8 months, he's very sneaky!

Last week he came down with his first cold. Plus he was teething really bad... Not a good combo! I spent two days with him screaming and fussing all day long. It seemed like nothing I did would calm him down. Honestly, that was extremely hard. I know parents do it all the time, but this was my first time experiencing this. It was sad seeing little man so restless and tired. Yet he couldn't get comfortable enough to sleep. It took him about a week to finally get rid of it. Thank god!

Now Jacob is doing great. Still teething though. Last night another top tooth emerged! Yay! How many more to go? The last couple of days he has started refusing his breakfast, which is pretty unusual for him. He loves food! But I think it's a combo of teething and being a little scared it's not his normal food. A few days ago I was reading an article about infants and baby food. It stated that most kids who are given only pre-made baby food tend to grow up not wanting a wide variety of food. It got me a little scared thinking I might end up with a picky eater, so I ran to the store and got the items I needed to make my own food for the first time.

I made broccoli and butternut squash. The broccoli didn't turn out like I thought. It still had a little bit of sprouts in it. Even after pureeing it over and over. The squash turned out very smooth on the other hand. It looked pretty much like what I buy in the jar. Jacob tried the broccoli and didn't like it at all. The next night he tried the squash and didn't seem to like it either. He ate a little bit of it when I mixed it with his green beans. He gagged both nights and didn't want to eat it either one. I've read that it sometimes takes infants 8-10 tries of a food before they will like it. So we will try again. Making my own food was much easier than I thought. It's just a little more time consuming, but hopefully worth it in the long run.

A new sheriff in town!

He's so silly!

OMG! Your post reminded me of how picky an eater your little sister was! When I knew her she would only eat those cheese totinos pizzas! HAHA! You don't want Jacob to be like that? :) I made baby food for Caleb- now with Carter I don't have the time! It is pretty easy I found a book called Baby Blender Food... have fun!

I know!! For years she would eat only the pizzas or cheese burritos! I DO NOT want Jacob to be like that! He will be hungry b/c I'm not making two meals for dinner!
I think I will go and get that book today. Anything to help me will be great! Thanks for the tip!
