Back in Atlanta!

We made it back in Atlanta yesterday. I'm so happy we left when we did. It was a great day for driving, nothing but sunny skies! The whole week is had been raining in Gulfport and the rain was coming back today. The drive wasn't TOO bad. I had to stop 4 times...mommy potty break, Jacob potty break/feeding time, gas, then Jacob wanted to eat again. Then as we were driving, Georgia decided to get sick and throw up in the front seat. Lovely! Thankfully I have baby wipes all in the car, so it was quick to clean up. Boy, what a drive! Two dogs and a baby is no joke!

So we are here and I'm enjoying a little time to myself while Jacob takes a nap. I mailed all the Christmas boxes off Monday, so I'm sure most of you all have received my gifts or should get them in the next few days. I really hope everyone likes what they got. I tried to be creative and do something a little different this year. I can't say what I did, b/c some of you may not have gotten your gifts yet. But I can say that everything was made by me, mostly with Jacob at my feet or during nap times. It may not be much, but it did take me a little while to make. I wish we could have done more, but Aaron and I are really trying to pay off some debt that our new home has brought us. We have to be a little more frugal (which I love shopping for bargains!), but we will be debt free in the next coming year! That is my new years resolution! I am a firm believer in the secret... :-)

Only a week or so until Christmas! I can't believe it! It doesn't really feel like Christmas since I didn't put up a tree this year. I figured we weren't going to be home too long and plus Aaron wasn't there to help me put it up or take it done. I couldn't handle doing that alone with Jacob. I haven't even gone shopping for little man yet. I didn't want to travel more stuff and since he is still too young to understand, we aren't getting him much. Maybe a few stocking stuffers and some books. He will probably get more enjoyment out of the wrapping paper! I brought a lot of his toys with us here, but he could care less about them. He would rather go into Grandma's kitchen and open all her drawers and find all the good non-baby stuff to get into!

Gotta go for now..having to get some baby proofing things at the store today for Grandma's house. :)

Check back with later this week.. Jacob is going to meet Santa this weekend and get his picture taken for the first time! yay! Hopefully we don't get one of those terrible crying baby pics like you see soo many times. And hopefully for my sake, he doesn't get any nasty germs. All those other kids touching santa...eww gross! I will be a crazy mom and be purelling my kid as soon as he gets done! I'm crazy like that, and plus I don't want him catching any crazy flu or cold!

Christmas!

Christmas is only a few more weeks away! I'm excited and a little sad at the same time since Aaron won't be here. This is our first Christmas apart. ;(

***Please do not send any boxes to our house*** until after mid January. I will be back in Atlanta and won't be able to receive them. I unfortunately can't put a hold on ups so any boxes delivered will be left to sit on our porch until I get back..and I really don't want that nor do I want people to assume no one is here. I will be back by the 15th of Jan. And then it's only a month left till Aaron gets back! yay!! I can't wait!

Happy Holidays everyone!

So much going on...

Sorry I haven't posted in a while. I have been extremely busy during the last few weeks. Thanksgiving was great! My mom and dad came down from Georgia, and Aaron's Aunt Shelly and Uncle Kevin came down from Ohio. My mom was amazing and cooked the entire dinner. We had soo much good food!

The following night, mom and dad took on a big task....watching Jacob for an entire day and night! They let me go and spend the night with Kevin & Shelly in New Orleans. This was my first time away from Jacob for more than a few hours. It was very odd not having to worry about him, but it was also such a great feeling! I wasn't like most moms and worry or totally miss him so much that I left. Heck no! This was the first real big break since Aaron had left, so I took full advantage of it! I knew he was with the best, and I left mom pretty good detailed instructions :) Thankfully Jacob is on a very good schedule, so you can pretty much predict what he is going to do. New Orleans was great! I loved the old buildings and the history. The night life wasn't really my thing. I guess the weekend we went wasn't the best either since there was a big football game that weekend so the crowds were huge! But other than that, it was a blast! Can't wait to do it again, hopefully with Aaron next time!

Jacob is a monster! A huge teething monster! This weekend another top tooth came through. Which brings the total to 7 teeth (4 top front, and 3 front bottom), and two more on the way. He is chewing on everything. His poor bed is chewed up all over. He stands up and chews on the top railing. I guess I will be redoing the bed in the future. He is now wearing 18 month clothing, and I'm starting to think he might be going into 24 month clothing before I know it. The kid won't stop growing! Over the weekend he stopped eating any type of pureed foods, which I thought was due to the teething. But even tonight he wouldn't eat any, but totally chowed down on whole cut up green beans, pears, and toast. I just introduced toast to him this weekend, and that has now become his new favorite thing. It's hilarous watching him eat it. He keeps putting more and more in his mouth and acts like someone is going to take it away from him so he must eat very fast.

Jacob is also a total flirt! He smiles at every girl that walks by when we are out! There isn't a store that we go in that someone doesn't stop and talk to us. I guess he has that charm with the ladies. It must be his big blue eyes!

Here are some new pics..

Jacob at his first offical "playdate" at Kangarooz. He was the youngest kid there..but he still had fun watching the other kids.

Getting ready for the holidays

Jacob and I are spending the day at home today catching up on things around the house. Or should I say, I will be doing things around the house while Jacob continues to pull everything out and make a mess! Now that he is "cruising" around the house, it's so hard for me to get anything done. He is literally into everything! And of course he goes for everything he isn't supposed to get into, like the dog bowls. That is the first thing he will crawl into the kitchen for. I accidently forgot about Georgia's bowl one day, and Jacob got a lil taste of her food. And he loves the water bowl! Needless to say, he's quick and beats me to the bowls a lot!

We are starting to get the house together for our company next week. I am starting to make my grocery list so we can start doing some of the shopping tomorrow. Lately every time we go into a store, Jacob has now decided he wants to throw little fits. I used to be the person in the store who would hear kids fussying and crying and think - shut that kid up! But now that I'm a mom, I let Jacob cry and fuss it out. I can't cave into him every time he cries and whines to get out of the buggy. If I do, then I'll have a wimpy little man who is extremly spoiled. That isn't happening! I've gotten some pretty rude and ugly faces. But I just smile and could care less. I have to deal with Jacob, and I won't have a two year old throwing a fit because he isn't getting what he wants. I know Jacob is just testing me and wants to be picked up. He will throw his fit for about 5 mins and realize that he isn't getting picked up and then he is fine.

He's pretty smart for only being 9 months old (next week). It's really amazing how quick they grow up. I wish I could have had more of him being a little baby! Now he is baby talking to me, crawling all over me, and trying to chase after the dogs. He is so curious about everything. Especially mommy's laptop! lol He really really wants to touch the buttons. He is actually staring at the keyboard right now as I type...inching his way closer and closer to it. lol He is a cute little crazy man!
The dogs new bed I just bought them, can you tell they love it?

Jacob saw mommy taken pics, so he jumped infront of the camera! He's so crazy!

Jacob loves to get on my shoulders and dance around. Plus pull my hair! Wow, I didn't realize how bare my walls look! And you can see I had to hide my dinning room chairs and extra stuff in the corner so Jacob wouldn't get into all of it!

Last bath...

In the infant tub! Jacob is moving up to the big boy tub! I have probably been using this tub for too long. But honestly it has been easier to fill up and helps keep all his toys in reach. He loves it and hasn't seemed to mind. But lately he has been very curious about the bigger tub and tonight he just seemed too big for the tiny infant tub. So we are moving up! Another step to being a big boy. Kind of sad that he is growing up...3 months until 1 year!

Pictures from the last baby bath...

Halfway done!

This Saturday will be our half way point for Aaron's deployment. Meaning we only have 3 more months left! Yay! Time has gone somewhat quickly, or at least the time I was at my parents did. Now that Jacob and I are back in MS, time is going by very sssslllloooowwwww.... It's awful! Some days I'll look at the clock thinking it should be 5pm and it will only be 1pm!

We spent Halloween at my parents house. There isn't many neighborhoods in their area, so we went to my mom's work, where the residents were passing out candy to all the kids. Here are some pics of him and Grandma. I didn't dress up...I'm not a huge fan of dressing up for Halloween.

Jacob is growing FAST!! He will be 9 months on the 23rd. He is crawling everywhere and pulling up on anything and everything. It is amazing how quickly he picked that up. Now he is starting to stand up, turn, and let go of what he is holding on to, and of course this results in a fall. He is on the way to walking very soon. He has also picked up this very annoying whine...it's terrible. I would much rather hear a cry than a wimpy whine. The last few weeks have been very very rough. He has been teething again, and with that has come sleep issues. He has started waking up during the night, usually 3-4 times, sometimes more! I don't know what it's like to get sleep anymore. Thank god for coffee!

Some other milestones lately has been the small use of a sippy! I have been giving him a sippy cup since 6 months. Until now he has denied it every time. If I would put it up to his mouth, he would move his face the other way and make a terrible mean face. He would even get upset sometimes if I would put the cup near him. I have continued giving him the sippy cup at every meal, and he finally caught on! He isn't chugging out of it, but he does take some sips. That's a start!

I have also started Jacob on some table food. I have started mixing his veggies with pasta. They are little tiny pasta stars that help him get used to eating chunkier food. At first he gagged and hated them. But now it's nothing for him. He tried avocado's the other night and liked them! He is also eating peas and carrots! I haven't given him too much fruit other than the frozen fruit in the teething mesh eater. I don't want him to be hooked on sweets at a early age. And honestly, he loves veggies. He's not even a fan of juice.

I am very particular on what Jacob eats. I don't want him having much processed foods if possible. There are so many chemicals, pesticides, and unneeded sugar is everything. Thankfully eating healthy and clean is helping me drop weight. I am 10 pounds from my all time goal! Yay me! Right now I am smaller than what I have been in years. By the time Aaron comes home, I will be able to fit in his jeans. Which you all now how tiny he is!

New pics of the growing little man!

His teeth are coming in like crazy!

His new way of sleeping...butt up in the air!

He can stand on his own!

Jacob has been crawling everywhere! I can't even hold him without him trying to wiggle himself out of my arms so he can get on the floor. Sometimes he gets so frustrated because all he wants is to be on the floor exploring the world. He is very curious about everything.

Today he got up at his usual early time. He will typically get up around 6 or so and I will change his diaper and he will go back down for another hour or more. Well not today. I put him back down in his bed and he started babbling. Since we are sharing a room at my parents, I can hear everything. After a few minutes of him talking to himself, I looked up at him and realized he was standing up looking at me over the pack-n-play. He was probably trying to say "wake up mommy! I'm ready to get up!" I can't believe he can pull himself up! He has been trying to accomplish this for a few weeks. He can pull himself up with the assistance of toys or boxes that are around, but he wasn't able to pull himself up in the bed yet. He even started to take some steps to the side while standing up today. Jacob is on a roll!! I am sure he will be walking before Aaron comes home!

First day at beach!

I almost forgot! We went to Florida at the beginning of October to see my Grandma and Uncle. It was a short trip, but we had a good time. Here are pictures of Jacob's first trip to the beach! As you can see, he wasn't too sure about the water.

8 months

Little man Jacob is now 8 months! I'm a little behind on updating this blog. I've been staying at my mom and dads and haven't really found the time to update it. Every free time I get, I would much rather be lazy and spend my time online. I've been researching tons and tons of pictures for ideas for the house. I'm dying to start a project, but I just can't figure out what to do! I think my first project is going to be my master bedroom. I've found some rooms that have given me some inspiration, but nothing that I absolutely love. I will post them soon...

Jacob is now crawling everywhere! He can't sit still for anything! He barely wants to sit long enough to take his bottle. I can't believe how active he is now. I can put him down on the floor, and he dashes off to find something to get into. I bought a "baby cage" as I call it. It's a big gate that can close into a sectioned area. It keeps him from going everywhere! He doesn't seem to mind it, but as soon as I open it, he's off!! He's tried to escape a few times by going under a table that is between two chairs. For only 8 months, he's very sneaky!

Last week he came down with his first cold. Plus he was teething really bad... Not a good combo! I spent two days with him screaming and fussing all day long. It seemed like nothing I did would calm him down. Honestly, that was extremely hard. I know parents do it all the time, but this was my first time experiencing this. It was sad seeing little man so restless and tired. Yet he couldn't get comfortable enough to sleep. It took him about a week to finally get rid of it. Thank god!

Now Jacob is doing great. Still teething though. Last night another top tooth emerged! Yay! How many more to go? The last couple of days he has started refusing his breakfast, which is pretty unusual for him. He loves food! But I think it's a combo of teething and being a little scared it's not his normal food. A few days ago I was reading an article about infants and baby food. It stated that most kids who are given only pre-made baby food tend to grow up not wanting a wide variety of food. It got me a little scared thinking I might end up with a picky eater, so I ran to the store and got the items I needed to make my own food for the first time.

I made broccoli and butternut squash. The broccoli didn't turn out like I thought. It still had a little bit of sprouts in it. Even after pureeing it over and over. The squash turned out very smooth on the other hand. It looked pretty much like what I buy in the jar. Jacob tried the broccoli and didn't like it at all. The next night he tried the squash and didn't seem to like it either. He ate a little bit of it when I mixed it with his green beans. He gagged both nights and didn't want to eat it either one. I've read that it sometimes takes infants 8-10 tries of a food before they will like it. So we will try again. Making my own food was much easier than I thought. It's just a little more time consuming, but hopefully worth it in the long run.

A new sheriff in town!

He's so silly!

Staying busy!

Two more weeks down!! Yay! Time is flying by...somewhat!! Jacob & I have been trying to stay busy. The busier we are, the less we think about how much longer we have until our daddy comes home.

Jacob is 7 months now! Well 7.5...Oh my! He is growing too fast! What happened to my baby? He is now a very very active little guy. He is everywhere! Don't put him down somewhere and expect him to be there when you turn around.

Here is what he can do now at 7 months(I wish I would have done this every month)

- Rolls over like a pro, front to back, back to front
- Crawls....EVERYWHERE!
- Sit up on his own and get into the sitting position
- Stands up holding onto the couch for over a minute, tries to pull himself up but isn't strong enough yet
- Whines like a crazy fool!
- Babbles and I swear he says "ma ma"
- Now has 3 teeth - two on bottom and one on top. 4th top one coming in soon!
- Weighs 21.5lbs, and 29 inches long
- Can grab toys and pass them from each hand, loves to grab hair and jewelry!
- Loves to flirt with girls
- Micky Mouse Club House is his favorite show

Little man and I are in Atlanta right now visiting my parents. We have been here for about two weeks. My mom, Jacob, and I went to Florida this past weekend to visit my Grandma and Uncle. They had not met Jacob until now. Aaron and I unfortunately never had a chance to go down there when we moved back since we were busy with the house before he left.

It was really nice to see my family. My Grandma was diagnosed with lung cancer a few months ago. She has been doing kemo for a couple of weeks and has been very positive through out all of this. She had another kemo session on Friday when we were down there. It must have been stronger than the other weeks because now she is not feeling too well. She is very weak and not able to get up. It's been hard for her to eat or even keep anything down. My grandma is already skinny as a pole, so I can't imagine her not eating and losing more weight. She has another treatment for this Friday and then she is off next week. And after that, she has three more treatments until she is done with the kemo. She is seeing her doctor today, so hopefully he can figure out what she should do. I might head back to Gulfport to take care of some things, and then maybe head back here so I can go back down there. There might be a lot of driving in my future...

Aaron is doing good. He is now at another base working on a project for the duration of his deployment. He seems to be extremely busy and always working. I think this deployment is stressing him out. Every time I see him he looks tired and is starting to look a little thin. I am going to have to bake him some goodies and send them to him. Thankfully we only have about 4 months left. We are almost to the halfway mark. I know the holidays are going to be rough without Aaron, but hopefully with everything going on the time will fly by. And then we will be busy getting ready for him to come home and planning J's big first birthday bash.

Sorry I haven't updated in a while. I've been meaning to, but then when ever I get a free momment to myself I find something else to do. It seems like there is always something to do or something going on. Somethings broke, something needs to be cleaned, bills to pay, things to go and get, the list goes on. When you are a mom you don't get to wake up and enjoy the morning. You have to get up and hit the road running. I can't remember a day when I have woken up on my own. My alarm is now Jacob. He doesn't like mommy to sleep past 7am. But that's sleeping in for me!! Sometimes he's up at 5:30, and those days are hard!!!!!!! Especially when he doesn't want to nap.

Lately he has been teething hard core. One of his top teeth came in last week and he has another top tooth coming in next to it. He's been up during the middle of the night screaming, he's chewing like a monster on everything, and it takes me forever to feed him. So it hasn't really been much fun lately. He's also starting to get into this phase where he will start to whine and cry for me to pick him up, especially when we are in a store. I'm trying really hard not to make this a bad habit and let him think every time he cries he will get picked up. It's hard shopping carrying a 22lb baby around while pushing the stroller. So we basically end up leaving and coming back another day. I hate having him whine/cry in the store, but lately when people give me rude looks, I could care less. I was one of "those people" who hated when babies would cry in a store. But now I realize that he's just a baby, babies cry, that's just part of their day. I'm starting to get more confident in public with Jake and could care less if he's whining and someone gives me the stare down. They evidently aren't a mom and they don't understand. I've had so many other moms look at me and smile or help hold a door for me. They understand. It's like a secret committee. Only moms know what other moms go through.

Jake and I are heading back home tomorrow. I know my grass is needing to be cut by now. It's been almost 3 weeks since I've last cut it. I really do not want to head back. It's lonely being in that house. But I need to get back and take care of the house and go to some appointments next week. It's been great being at my parents house. Jacob LOVES his grandma and grandpa B. He's always playing with granny. She cracks him up. And every night at dinner Jake stares at grandpa. He seems fasinated with him. Jacob is probably going to be bored with having only his mommy around. But we might be back sooner than we thought so we can go take care of great grandma. I guess we'll see how things goes in the next few days.

Another weekend down

About 23 more to go!! Jacob & I had a great weekend! My mom, dad, uncle & fiance, and cousin all came in for the weekend. It was great having the house full. I could actually sleep! I wasn't scared. Dad and I did yard work on Saturday. It wasn't that bad having someone help me do it and finish it all in one day instead of the 3 days it takes me by myself. My mom stocked the house up with food and left me with tons of tempting chocolate treats. I'm trying not to be too tempted. I've already lost 6 pounds since Aaron has been gone. I'm going to be rocking a skinny body by the time he gets back! That's my goal at least.

Jacob had a blast this weekend. Grandma & Grandpa came with tons of gifts and clothes for him. He's one spoiled little man. He loved getting attention from everyone. He's a pretty happy man for the most part. But lately his teeth have been giving him some more problems. I think he may be getting another tooth in. He's been chewing like crazy on things. Last night I thought he was going to try to give me a kiss and instead he bit my face. Those two little teeth he has now are sharp!! It actually hurt! Every day he seems to get more and more interested in real food. I think I might have to start giving him actual solids soon. He is a monster for baby solid food. He even stars me down for my cup. I let him "try" to drink water from my cup. He has a sippy but doesn't really like it unless you hold it up for him. He's lazy!

A little update on the phone...for some reason our phone/internet company is really terrible at service. I called the company to find out what was going on because that whole night the phone continued to go on and off. I was up at 4 am freaking out b/c the phone didn't work again. The company said they were doing routine maintenance in the area. That has continued to go on for a few nights. The only reason we got a land line was so I could have a phone incase of emergencies. We don't get really good cell service where we are at, so I figured the house phone would always be available. But not with this company. Thankfully our contract is only 6 months, and after that we are going to switch.

After all the scares and the numberous werido's coming to my door, we have decided to get a security system put in. It's getting installed later today! I was so hesitant because I hate spending money. But after calling the company, I found out we get an amazing deal because we are member of USAA. It was installed on Tuesday and I have already set it off by accident. Thankfully I was able to turn it off in time. I have little reminders on the doors now to turn it off before going outside. I have to get used to doing that. It's a little nice to know that if someone comes in I will be able to hear them and the police will come. I don't think I'll ever get used to a quiet house without Aaron. Only 5 more months left!

This Saturday will be 4 weeks down! Yay! One month closer to Aaron coming back! We have been very lucky and have been able to chat with him almost daily. Jacob loves seeing his daddy on the web cam. He even smiles just hearing his daddy's voice on the phone. He's so freaking cute. I can't believe how fast he is growing.

Here are some new pics...

This is what I saw when I went to check on him after his nap...

For being stuck, he wasn't that unhappy.

Jacob on game day...UGA vs. Oklahoma

He loves his new fruit thing...he can eat frozen fruit through this mesh chewer. Great for his teething issue! His favorite is strawberries! Yummy!

Peaches...mmmm...good!

He was back crawling and finally learned how to sit up on his own. Now if only he can learn to crawl forward!
