Sorry it has taken us forever to update. My parents flew in last Monday and we have been having so much fun with them for the past few weeks. It has been great having family here. Extra arms to hold Jacob :-) They left on Saturday and we were sad to see them leave. But thankfully we will be home in the next few months. So it won't be too long before we see them again.Jacob is 3 weeks old today! It has been amazing seeing him slowly grow in the last few weeks. It is so neat to see his eye lashes slowly grow and now his little eye brows are starting to grow in. It still amazes me that Aaron and I created this little guy. I know he looks exactly like Aaron, but I promise he is part of me too!
I'm going to be a typical parent and do a little bragging now :) Jacob is starting to get pretty strong and can hold up his head pretty good. He also kicks pretty good, which makes changing his diaper a little tricky at times. He is more alert as every day goes by. Jacob also is starting to recognize his name when we call him. He is also such a great baby when we go out. We have taken a couple of trips out in town and every time he is so content and sleeps.
We had his two week check up appointment on Friday. He had dropped some more weight and we had to start supplementing an ounce of formula after each feeding. I'm still breast feeding and I started to pump this weekend. If I can pump enough, we can supplement with breast milk instead of crappy formula. Aaron and I are very hesitant to give him formula. Hopefully he won't need it too long.
We went back to the doctors today and his weight is increasing. On Friday he was down 15% from his birth weight, and now he is only down 8%. He gained about half a pound just over the weekend. There still is a confusion of what his real birth weight was, either 8.07 or 8.01. I guess the person writing the information wasn't too accurate. We are thinking that his birth weight was probably only 8.01. But all our documents say 8.07. The hopsital even messed up his height when he was measured at birth. Don't get me started about the crappy delivery ward we have here.
I have felt pretty good over the last two weeks. But on Friday my stitches started hurting like hell. I was a little worried that I could have an infection. I could barely move without extreme pain. I couldn't get an appointment, so I ended up going to the ER. Long story short, I don't have an infection, which is great. But they did say I was doing too much and need to stay off my feet. I'm not healing as quickly because I haven't been taking it easy and resting. I thought I was taking it easy, but I guess all the walking and site seeing over the last week didn't help. I felt great while doing it, but now it has caught up with me. I'm somewhat being forced to rest and take it easy now. I can't argue about it since I want to heal as quickly as I can so I can get back into the gym.
Here are a few pictures from the last few days... We will upload more pics on Flickr this weekend.
